CAPPELLA di SAN SEBASTIANO
(CHAPEL OF SAINT SEBASTIAN)
The size of the current chapel is modest and the heavy paintwork
of the façade, executed a short time ago, leads one to
assume it is of recent construction.
And yet its history is old: minutes dated from 1627 state it
was not possible to celebrate mass in it because in disorder,
and from this it can be argued that already at that time it
was very old.

CAPPELLA di S. DEFENDENTE
e di S.ROCCO (CHAPEL OF St. DEFENDENTE and St. ROCCO)
The chapel is just outside the
railings and Maresco door which has now disappeared. It already
existed in 1668. Of rather simple construction, the façade
is adorned by pilaster strips and cornices and a magnificent
walnut door with two shutters, set off by 18th century sculpted
panels. Inside, is the high altar in lacquered wood with painted
flowers; on the right wall there are two communicating chapels:
one dedicated to Saint Rocco and the other to Saint Victor
in memory of the parish priest of the parish now disappeared.
The first chapel dates from 1799 and the second from 1820.
The sacristy cabinet is magnificent, finely sculpted in walnut
and dating from 1790 and comes from the demolished church
of St. Mary Magdalene of Maresco. Inside the church, originally
from another church judging by its large size, is an oil panting
on canvas portraying the glory of the Eucharist with the adoring
Madonna. A grave stone in the floor records the burial of
the last parish priest of the church of Maresco, Don Carlo
Mossotto, in 1838

CHIESA di SAN CARLO (CHURCH
OF SAINT CHARLES)
Before 1817, the diocese of Asti
was under suffrage to that of Milan which explains the large
number of churches named after the illustrious Bishop of Milan,
Saint Charles.
This of Montechiaro was certainly among the first to bear
this name, because at only 25 years from his beatification,
the church was already in need of repair work
It has always been the property of the Falletti family
